“We can’t become what we need to be by remaining what we are.” – Oprah Winfrey
The meaning of personal-growth or self-growth may differ from one individual to another. In general , it refers to improvement of your skills, goals, way of thinking, and personal qualities, in simple terms’ ‘Self-improvement’ or ‘development of an individual.
‘Allow yourself to grow.’
Here I refer to growing mentally and emotionally. This personal growth is not just fixing yourself once and where damaged, but is about improving regardless of whether it’s a weakness or a strength. In the chaos of the developing and improving outer appearances and skills we often forget our mind and unknowingly restrict its growth.
Some people will reject personal growth because it can be scary and ugly. It doesn’t have to be butterflies and rainbows. It’s not realistic. We often come across things we don’t want to face. Research shows that We fail to know ourselves very well and most of us overestimate our abilities and when we overestimate, it only means our reality is far from near.
The desire for self-improvement attitude is a factor that will raise your work from average to great and push you through tough times, regardless of the level you are currently at with your qualities.
A few ways to ensure self-growth are as follows:
- Start your day by affirming yourself with one positive affirmation.
- Enhance your mind – be proactive, curious, and informed.
- Challenge yourself to learn new things.
- Think critically.
- Spend time with your loved ones.
- Become an active listener.
- Discourage bad habits/behavior.
- Encourage healthy physical habits.
- End your day by feeling grateful for everything you have.
- Let yourself feel the love for itself, allow yourself to be on your side.
