The GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) exam in India is a national-level examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc)Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs.) The purpose of the GATE Exam is to offer admission to ME/M. Tech and Ph.D. programs in top-notch Colleges/Institutions of the country and to offer jobs in Public Sector Undertakings like Indian Oil, GAIL, and Hindustan Petroleum, etc. The GATE Score Card remains valid for 3 years and is used for admission purposes and recruitment.
While GATE is primarily designed for engineering and technology disciplines, it is also relevant for certain other Science and Humanities fields, including psychology. This means that psychology students can choose to appear for the GATE exam to seek admission to postgraduate programs in psychology and related disciplines in various prestigious institutes across India.
